House of Pancakes

We came from NJ and were staying in the Sunset area. We discovered this restaurant through Google Maps and noticed its excellent reviews, so we decided to give it a try. There was a waitlist with 10 parties ahead of us, but we decided to stroll down the street and have a beer at an Irish pub. You can monitor your table status online, and we watched as our number came up. It was about a 30-minute wait, equivalent to enjoying one beer. The pancakes were outstanding, along with the noodles and dumplings. We even had enough leftovers to enjoy two more meals. Don’t hesitate, give it a try – you won’t be disappointed.

This cozy spot in the avenues is consistently packed, but the service is friendly and efficient. Their specialty is hand-pulled noodles and savory Chinese pancakes. Everything here is delectable. It’s like Mission Chinese without the pretentiousness. It’s a family-owned establishment with minimalist decor. I recommend any of the hand-pulled noodle dishes, which come with scissors for cutting the long strands of noodles. The texture is unique and delicious. It’s definitely worth the visit, and easily accessible via MUNI.

I couldn’t believe the reviews, but they were absolutely accurate! It’s the ultimate destination for the most delicious and reasonably priced Chinese cuisine! It’s worth the wait. Although it’s a small, bustling place, it has a warm and familiar atmosphere. As usual, the portions are huge, and the meals are incredibly flavorful.

We were introduced to this place by family members who reside in the area. We had never tried Chinese pancakes before, and they were a revelation. Although we didn’t place the order ourselves, there were two types of dumplings, one with lamb (which I preferred) and another with beef. The hand-pulled noodles were exceptional. There was also a cold beef dish that didn’t quite suit my taste. You have to specifically request water, or they won’t bring it, and when we did, we received small, ice-less glasses. The staff was very friendly. This is truly a hidden gem, a tiny and cramped spot, but the food is absolutely scrumptious.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in SF! The food is incredibly tasty, generously portioned, and budget-friendly – a true win-win situation! The customer service is also very welcoming. Here’s what we ordered: Beef Roll Pancake – The meat simply melts in your mouth! It’s superb. The sweet sauce inside the pancake adds wonderful flavor to the dish. 5/5. Egg Roll Pancake – If you’re a fan of eggs, you’ll thoroughly enjoy this pancake. It features the same sweet sauce as the Beef Roll Pancake. 5/5. Beef Hand-Pulled Noodle (soup) – This is my absolute favorite dish! The noodles have a delightful texture and flavor. The broth is rich, and the meat is tender. It’s a must-try at this place. 5/5. Pork Dumpling with Chives – 5/5. Overall, I adore this place. I’ve been coming here for three years now, and it has never disappointed me.
